One thing I have realized recently is that I LOVE using my electric drill!! I used it to remodel my kitchen this weekend; it was the first time I used it and who knew drilling could be so much fun?? So, now I am looking around my house thinking “what else can I drill?” lol I saw this mason jar and remembered a picture I saw on Pinterest and decided that a mason jar soap dispenser would be fun for my new {under construction} kitchen!
Besides, I already had all the supplies! Here is what you will need if you want to make your own mason jar soap dispenser:
{YOU WILL NEED}
- 1 mason jar
- a pump from an old soap dispenser {make sure it fits your mason jar and is not too short OR too long!}
- A drill and/or hammer
- {Optional} epoxy – if you need to make a water tight seal around the pump
{DIRECTIONS}
1. Keeping the lid on your mason jar, drill a hole that is the same size as your soap dispenser PUMP. {Your pump should fit ALL the way down, so you may need to drill and then push the hole out a little wider with a flathead screw driver or hobby knife if you don’t have a drill bit large enough.}
2. Hammer out the backside of your lid {if needed} so no metal is sticking up. {Be careful not to dent the lid!}
3. Insert your pump to make sure it fits. Make any necessary adjustments. HERE is where you would put the epoxy if you want a water tight seal. I did NOT use epoxy because my pump fit so tight it doesn’t turn or leak through. Follow the directions on your epoxy bottle if you want the seal.
4. Fill your dispenser with soap & replace the lid! These mason jars look good all by themselves, but you can decorate them with twine, ribbon or whatever else you like!
There are so many things you can create with mason jars!! I love them! What is your favorite mason jar project?
